German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier has again been critical of the ex-chancellor Gerhard Schröder. He doesn't think it reflects well on Germany for the continued ties to Russia to have been kept by Schröder.

"Gerhard Schröder's involvement with Russian energy firms has left questions hanging over our country, particularly from our eastern European neighbours," Steinmeier is reported to have said to Bild, recently.

Criticism of Schröder for this in Germany is not new. For years he was criticised over business ties to Russia, by some in Germany.

Recently this criticism has increased in view of the situation in Ukraine.

Steinmeier, also, has however recently been the recipient of criticism - for his Russia policies over the last 20 or so years.
